We are STAAR - the Southern Tennessee Area Arts Repertory.
-
STAAR is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation
-
STAAR's aim is to serve "our Homtown" of Pulaski and surrounding areas through the arts.
- STAAR's desire is to tap into the talents of our citizens.
-
Our mission is: to DISCOVER - to EDUCATE - to PREPARE - to ENCOURAGE - to PERFORM· to DISPLAY - to STRIVE - to EXCEL - to ENDOW - to PERPETUATE.
-
Our goal is to maintain a multi-purpose facility in which these talents can be perfected and exhibited.
-
What makes us unique is dinner theater - dinner and a show under one roof on many productions.
-
We encourage growth in music through music appreciation classes, vocal training, instrument knowledge, as well as private and group instruction. We even have our own band!
-
Our children's/musical production of "101 Dalmatians." featured talents of more than 1 00 young people in our community· none over the age of fourteen! We put on children's, teens, historical, comedy, murder mystery and musical productions for all to be a part of.
-
Auditions for productions are open to all. We do not discriminate.
-
We have now hoping to add BaliroomlSwing dance lessons and karaoke nights to our growing list of activities!
-
"Behind-the-scenes" opportunities in directing, producing, stage-management, sets, lights, sound, music, props, costumes, makeup, advertising, etc., are also available to the youth and adults who want to try something new and exciting, but never had the confidence to step out and try.
-
Our community support continues to grow as they see the value in raising confident, successful children.
-
We are seeking out benefactors and backers who are in agreement with our goals.
-
Anyone interested in theater, music, dance, and the visual arts is invited to join us.
-
All of our efforts are voluntary and NO ONE associated with STAAR profits financially from these efforts.
-
ONE-HUNDRED PERCENT of all monies donated to us or generated from our shows is used to pay our expenses and fund future productions.
We are currently leasing to purchase this building that just so happens to house an abandoned 1868 Opera House-on our second floor. This is the oldest standing Opera House in Tennessee! We are seeking benefactors who are in agreement with our heartfelt goals to give our children and adults a safe, fun, and educational place to learn and "play" and preserve our piece of history for Giles County and Tennessee!
Thank you for your time and support!
Sincerely Yours,
Tammy Pierchoski

When Dan Miljanich moved to Pulaski last year from Ohio, he wanted to see what our town had to offer. As he walked around the square one afternoon, he noticed folks lining up to see a performance of Disney's 101 Dalmatians, Kids at the STAAR Theatre and Center for the Arts.

"Archie and the Wallflower" By Kevin Stone
This clever comedy gets two green thumbs up! The New Leaf Greenhouse is facing foreclosure, but owner Filmore Potts and his employees are busy with other matters—from hosting a garden party for the uppity Butterfly Club to dealing with an explosive experiment concocted by Nate, the resident scientist. To make the day even more volatile, Ivy has concocted a love potion to win over Pete, who barely notices her. Wouldn’t you know?
